SHORTY III 6-160 IN THE SHOP ON 4WD PICKUP.  THIS IS MY FAVORITE.  IT WAS EASY TO MOUNT ON A QUAD MAG MOUNT (quad mag mounts available at most ham stores).  One can also use 2 triple mag mouints tied together with an extra bar one in front of the other.  This will hold the antennas in severe conditions.

I WORK SEVERAL STATES AWAY AND INTO CANADA WITH THIS 24" TALL ANTENNA WITH A 63" WHIP ON 160 METERS.  USUALLY IN THE EVENING ABOUT 9:PM.  COULD PROBABLY WORK GREATER DISTANCES EARLY IN THE A.M.  I WORK THE WORLD WITH OTHER BANDS SUCH AS 20 METERS.

THEY CAN'T BELIEVE I'M MOBILE.  I HAVE NEVER HAD IT TIP OVER WITH THE WIND.  IT WILL TIP OVER WHEN ALL THE WAY UP AND DRIVING INTO THE SHOP.  HI HI.  I USE A 500 WATT AMPLIFIER (ALS 500 M) AND THE ANTENNA HANDLES THAT POWER QUITE WELL. NOW THE SHORTY III IS WOUND WITH 14GA WIRE AND WILL HANDLE EASILY 800 TO 1000 WATTS PEP.

PHONE 360-896-5810 FOR QUESTIONS OR ORDERING BY CREDIT CARD.  OR paypal for other cards

ALL ANTENNAS COME WITH MOUNTING POST, 2 SPEED CONTROL BOX, 14 FEET OF CABLE, GROUND BOLTS, SPLIT FITTING FOR CENTER CONDUCTOR, TERMINALS FOR GROUND.  We do not sell whips.
SHORTY I SHOWN HERE ON QUAD MAG MOUNT.  QUAD MAG MOUNTS ARE AVAILABLE AT MOST HAM STORES.  THEY WILL SUPPORT THE SHORTY I AND SHORTY III AT FREEWAY SPEEDS.  Attach good ground strap for connection to image plane and for safety in case of collision

. The above picture shows a Shorty mounted with a bent over whip and capacity hat with a magnet and insulator at end.

The idea and the picture above was forwarded to me by and was the brain child of Michael Saulsbury wb0jzo.  He claims he gets much better signals not only at near field situations, but also long distance sky wave contacts.  I haven't tested this unique method of lengthening the whip while lowering the overhead clearance.  Great if it works as he says.
